Coat-X Japan Co., Ltd. was established in August 2021 as a joint venture between Coat-X SA (Switzerland) and OSG Coating Service Co., Ltd. (Japan). This strategic partnership combined the innovative thin-film barrier technology developed in Switzerland with OSG’s industrial and commercial network in Asia.
The company was created to address the growing demand for advanced protective coatings in the electronics, medical, and semiconductor industries in Japan and across Asia. Through this collaboration, OSG held a 51% stake and Coat-X SA held 49%, ensuring a strong local presence while leveraging Swiss engineering and technical expertise.
Coat-X SA, headquartered in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland, is recognized for its high-performance coatings that offer exceptional water resistance, biocompatibility, electrical insulation, and thermal stability. The patented multi-layer coatings, which blend parylene and ceramic films, deliver industry-leading moisture and vapor barriers, extending product life and reliability.
From R&D to production, Coat-X Japan offered coating options—such as PPX-C, PPX-F, and ceramic hybrids—designed to protect sensitive components even in the most demanding conditions. The company also supplied testing, prototyping, and coating services out of its new Aichi Prefecture base.

In 2024, Plasmalex acquired Coat-X Switzerland. Following this acquisition, the joint venture between Coat-X and OSG in Japan was ceased, and Coat-X Japan the came to an end.
